Farm Management Background, Goal & Objectives
← Back to Farm ManagementThe Kiboga Hill Farm management system grew out of a practical need within our family project: helping members see the records of a project funded by their monthly contributions. Our community had come together through TikTok, bringing people in different places into a shared farming venture. As members saved and contributed, access to clear project records became essential to accountability and participation.
Kalema Abubakar, CEO and founder of Kiboga Hill Farm Uganda, began thinking about how members could access those records wherever they were. That question became the starting point for building this system from scratch: a place where members could follow their contributions, understand how their shared project was progressing, and stay connected to what was happening at the farm.
The First Steps in Nairobi — September–October 2025
Development began while Kalema was in Nairobi attending regional workshops at ICPAC from 30 September to 2 October 2025, in connection with the Water at the Heart of Climate Action (WHCA) project. During that period, he also secured the domain www.kibogahillfarmuganda.co.ug, giving the idea an online home.
The WMO and ICPAC workshop programme covered two areas: a regional workshop on the World Coordination Mechanism for producing bi-weekly hydro-meteorological scans for humanitarian agencies on 30 September–1 October 2025, followed on 2 October 2025 by work on an interoperable platform and the development of a multi-hydrological-model approach. WHCA supports stronger monitoring, forecasting and early warning for water-related hazards.
Built Around Access to Records
What started as a way for our TikTok family members to access their shared project records became the foundation of the farm management system. Its purpose remains rooted in that original need: making farming records accessible, supporting accountability, and helping members follow progress and make informed decisions together.
The Kiboga Hill Farm Family began in February 2025 from TikTok Lives, where interested viewers shared WhatsApp numbers to join our group. As of 8 October 2025 the group had 85 voluntary members. The initial aim was to reach 100 highly active members aligned with the family’s programmes, with later admissions prioritizing owners of large farm enterprises, agricultural professionals, and veterinary experts.
Family Project Vision
Our goal is a jointly owned project where members contribute equally and share equal rights. In April 2025, members began buying goats and cattle managed at Kiboga Hill Farm. Princess Sharifah bought the first goat and mobilized friends—SwtRema, Tricia Tricia, Faluwa. Another circle by Tracy United with Agie Amazing and Lilly Nshuti contributed monthly. Animals were selected over WhatsApp video calls. In June 2025 we paused individual purchases to draft SOPs.
Launch of the Family Project
On 7 July 2025, Bruno Ahimbisibwe (BRUMAX UG) proposed immediately starting the project to reduce member uncertainty. Members agreed to begin from September–December 2025 with a monthly contribution of UGX 50,000. Funds are invested (goats, cattle, poultry, or other) by majority decision. After sales, proceeds are shared equally among contributors.
Accountability & Participation
We camp at the farm every three months to review progress and solve challenges. Anyone can join the Family; to join the Family Project you sign a membership form and provide a next of kin.
